I want to apologize to you and Ken for falling behind on my promotions. I have been plagued with personal challenges that I have needed to devote a big chunk of my time and attention, and with that, I have really dropped the ball on keeping you up to date.
Health - It Is THE Most Important Possession!
I was diagnosed with a hernia (not exactly the most glamorous injury) a few weeks back and my doctor immediately put me on a 10 lb. weight restriction, and my employer said, “Don’t come back until your restriction is lifted!”
I can live with that, because it would free my time that I desperately needed for all of the projects I have going on.
But, my wife was scheduled for her back surgery last week and I had to run her around to all of her doctor appointments and labs and everything to get her ready for her surgery. My wife’s back has been slowly deteriorating over the last 20 years or so and the last vertebra had slipped almost an entire inch into her body. I almost felt the pain she must have been going through when I saw the x-ray…
So Wednesday, my wife went through her surgery and it went really well. The subscribers to my newsletters were very supportive and I can tell you for a fact that the prayers of everyone all over the world were the reason the surgeons were able to do the operation with no complications. If you have never experienced the power of having hundred of people praying in unison for you, it is like nothing you can ever experience. It is like you have an added layer of protection and comfort.
Now Thursday and Friday were a living hell for my wife, however, as the pain from having 20 years of slow change to her body suddenly corrected in a three hour operation raced into her legs and lower back. I remember pain like that after a motorcycle accident. It hurt to even think about moving any part of my body. I liken it to the way you feel after a workout when you haven’t exercised in 10 years multiplied by every muscle, ligament and tendon in your body!
The pain was one thing, but my wife experienced the hospital staff from the land of the zombies. You know how we all preach customer service in Internet Marketing and that the people who serve the best will make the most money? This hospital should be filing for bankruptcy with the kind of lackluster service they provided.
It seemed like everyone was there to collect their paycheck and go through the motions to make it through their shift. Every person except for maybe the one lady who worked at the cafeteria (she actually went above and beyond for me) and the night nurse named John did not try to do anything for anyone unless they were specifically asked to do it.
In one instance, a nurse was having to handle bedpans for the lady in the bed next to my wife’s. The lady was having a terrible bout of diarrhea and the nurse had to empty and wash the bedpan several times. My wife heard everything going on and when the nurse finished there, she heard the nurse changing gloves, but did not hear her washing her hands… So when the nurse came over to my wife and wanted to give her the medication my wife stopped her and asked if she had washed her hands. The nurse replied that she had been wearing gloves and that she had changed them. My wife told her, “No! You need to go wash your hands!”
Think about how we impact everyone around us in the jobs we do. As a marketer, I am constantly appalled at the marketers who delegate their customer service to someone who is unfamiliar with the product, or doesn’t care as much as the product owner. We must show that we care to distinguish ourselves from the competition. It is not as easy to shine above the other lights that surround us today! But taking the time to communicate with everyone around them is more than 98% of the world do. And it gets you noticed!
Coming Soon To A Blog Near You!
I will be playing catch up the rest of this week, as I go to my parent’s house to take care of my wife. (I can’t lift more than 10 lbs. until after my hernia surgery in December) I will be researching more of the products that I can tell you about, and also tell you about some projects that Ken and I are preparing for you! Ken’s plate is fuller than mine if that is possible, so I have to hurry to get some of his workload back away from him to make his life easier.
So don’t despair, I am like the little duck that is gliding across the pond so gracefully, but under the water’s surface I am paddling like a madman!
Have an amazing day!
