The last week has seen many marketers pouring their souls into some very powerful products, they get launch partners, and then they have poor results on launch day.

I don’t want to get gloomy, but we may want to take a look at marketing outside the IM niche for a little while. Like the housing market, we see people get caught investing in homes that they just knew would be worth 10% more in a few months, only to find that the market has cooled.

With the vacationers still away until school starts, how wise is it to launch an IM product in August? Sure, there are hundreds of marketers who will still make a large chunk of cash from these launches, because they have the sheer numbers on their side.

But look at the last couple that had to make changes in order to increase sales. Today Jason James lowered the price on his Untold Marketing Secrets to $47! Quite a drop! And Ross Goldberg had to have his sales page rewritten to boost his conversions on Affiliate Marketing 2.0!

And both of these products are packed with more valuable content than a lot of products that have launched in the last 3 months…

Let’s explore the reasons this could be happening.

Marketers are on vacation:

Michael Cheney sent some autoresponder messages while he is thousands of miles away from his computer on a beach somewhere, while his business is adding income from his promotions via autoresponder.

While many marketers and wannabe marketers take their vacations during the summer, there are still some people out there buying.

Wallet Burnout:

My list took a vaction…lol because they bought Site Stealer and 7 Figure Code and I haven’t heard from them again! (I think they are so busy implementing the strategies that they are learning from Harris and Mike that they aren’t even reading emails)

But think about the price point of 7 Figure Code. I know I had to max out my last credit card to get it (I wasn’t on the JV list at the time), and if a new marketer is struggling to get going, at some point they are going to run out of resources.

Buzz Deafness:

I got an email from someone who had received half a dozen identical emails from half a dozen different marketers about the same product. He complained that creativity was lacking in marketers. I emailed him back and told him that it is not lack of creativity but lack of time that makes marketers resort to using the canned emails that are provided by the product owners. I do it once in a while, again when time is crunched, and I usually get poor results.

When I take the time to write my own letter for a product that I am promoting for someone, my conversions go through the roof. That is why I hesitate to write emails for my JV partners when I launch a product. Sure, it is most likely going to get me less partners, because I wasn’t willing to do the work for them, but my conversions will be better from those that do promote me with sincere words.

Sir, Step Away From That Soapbox…”

Whoa, I can’t believe I spouted all of that with only one Mountain Dew in me. The point I am making is not that IM is slumping, it is the fact that the IM Niche is worn out, and unless we come up with a new formula for launching products, people will continue to half-ass promote, send one email rather than the six you should be sending, offer the same cheesy resell rights bonuses and see their conversions drop into the basement.

Can You Smell It?

Ahh! That clean, fresh, new product smell!

I guess I need to remind you that I pretty much showed you everything that is in Jason James’ Untold Marketing Secrets in my post yesterday. I went into the whole list of who is in it and what they are talking about. But, now that Jason has lowered the price, why aren’t you buying it?
